2009 Summer Day Camp Schedule

Ages 6-8:

June 15-19: Summer Adventurers
We’ll read about some adventurous boys & girls and create our own adventure play.

July 13-17: What’s the Buzz?
Learning from our on-site gardens about plants and insects with complimentary reading, writing and art projects.

July 27-31: Will He or Won’t He?

Reading and writing activities about making good choices and some challenges all boys and girls experience.




Ages 9-11:

June 22-26: Read an Adventure/Write an Adventure
We’ll explore historic, modern, and fantasy adventures and learn about the elements of fiction, while writing our own adventure story.

July 20-24: Meet a Character/Create a Character
We’ll read a classic American novel and talk about what makes the characters work in the story. We’ll create our own character and see how his talents and challenges work in a story.

August 4-8: Read a Mystery/Write a Mystery Play
What makes a mystery mysterious, scary, believeable? Let’s find out!

Participants will take home a book and a bound copy of the writing produced at Book Camp that week.
